Jonas Carlsson is a professional Swedish Sign Language Interpreter since 1987 when he graduated from the Interpreter training program and in the initial round he was in the first male interpreter to be authorized by Swedish governmental authorization body in 2004. He has been full time employed by the Stockholm Sign Language Interpreting agency and by the Swedish National Association of the Deaf. From the year 2004 he is interpreting on freelance basis in a wide range of settings.
Since 2007 Jonas Carlsson has frequently been working as an International Sign Interpreter at a variety of meetings, seminars, conferences and congresses arranged by a number of different organizations including United Nations and the World Federation of the Deaf.
From 1995 up until today Jonas Carlsson is employed as a Sign Language Interpreter educator at Södertörns Folkhögskola in Stockholm. He holds a diploma of education for the Folk high school from Linköping University.
He has been presenting at Stockholm University, Ohlone College, California, USA, EFSLI (European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters), CIT (Conference of Sign Language Interpreters, USA) and several interpreter agencies in Sweden. He is also coaching professionals and provides in-service training for interpreters.
