Liz Scott Gibson

World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI) President

Liz Scott Gibson is a very experienced International Sign/ English interpreter and educator of sign language interpreters, acting as external examiner to a number of universities, and as an evaluator of various interpreter training programmes. She has worked in many countries and for many organisations around the world, most recently for the World Federation of the Deaf, the European Union of the Deaf, various UN agencies and other international NGOs (e.g. International Disability Alliance, CBM, International Conference on the Education of the Deaf, Deaf History International, International Disability and Development Consortium). Her native sign language is BSL (British Sign Language), but she is familiar with a number of other signed languages. Liz has been involved in professional associations of sign language interpreters at both national, European and international levels, and is the Honorary President of the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI).
